The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is warning consumers that Pet Carousel brand pig ears and beef hooves that have been sold nationwide at major retailers may be contaminated with Salmonella.

This alert is especially important because pet owners handling these popular products can become infected with Salmonella just as their pets can. That's why the FDA is asking consumers who bought these products for their pets - most likely dogs - to dispose of them as soon as possible.

The affected pig ear products were packaged under the brand names Doggie Delight and Pet Carousel. The affected beef hooves were packaged under the brand names Choo Hooves, Dentley’s, Doggie Delight, and Pet Carousel.

Crib recall
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of more than 2.1 million Stork Craft drop-side cribs, approximately 1.2 million of which were sold in the United States.
The federal consumer protection agency urges parents and caregivers to immediately stop using the recalled cribs, some of which were marketed with the Fisher Price name, and wait for a free repair kit. The recall focuses on the drop-side portion of the crib, which can detach, creating a space which can trap an infant or toddler, posing a risk of suffocation or falling.
The agency said it has received reports that four children have suffocated, and 20 others have fallen out of the cribs, with injuries ranging from concussions to bumps and bruises.

If you’re making a list and checking it twice…Make sure this toy truck is not on it.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and various wholesalers have recalled the “Super Rig Transport” a multi-colored toy truck with a trailer that holds vehicles. Thank goodness there have not been any reported injuries but the surface of the truck contains extremely high levels of lead and if ingested by young children can cause serious health effects.

With so many similar toy trucks on the market you can identify this one by the bar code 6-98567-67007-3 located on the back of the box. The actual truck’s trailer has the code 45TNGO9 engraved and they were made in China.

If you or anyone you know have purchased this toy, immediately take the recalled toy truck set away from your child and call Variety Wholesalers toll-free at (800) 678-7776 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Eastern time, Monday through Friday.

The U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission has announced a recall of high chairs sold by IKEA stores. The snap locks used to secure the seat to the frame can break, allowing the seat and child to drop through the frame and out of the chair. Detached snap locks can pose a choking hazard to young children.

OK, this is definitely one of the more odd recalls I have seen. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of more than 950,000 home improvement books sold nationwide between January 1975 through December 2009 for between $13 and $35. The books contain errors in the technical diagrams and wiring instructions that could lead consumers to incorrectly install or repair electrical wiring, posing an electrical shock or fire hazard to consumers. It took more than three decades to figure out something was wrong with these books? Thanks Lesley

Here's another recall involving the toxic metal cadmium in cheap jewelry for children made in China. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of Disney-branded “The Princess and the Frog” necklaces sold at Walmart stores nationwide from November 2009 through this month for about $5. Go here to read the recall announcement, which follows an earlier recall of "The Princess and the Frog" bracelet charms: http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml10/10127.html
