Coupon-Eligible Analog to Digital (DTV) Converter Boxes
In accordance with federal law, U.S. broadcast television stations are switching from analog to digital signals. On February 11, 2009, President Obama signed legislation passed by Congress, known as the DTV Delay Act, extending the original date for the completion of the DTV transition from February 17, 2009, to June 12, 2009.
In accordance with the DTV Delay Act, broadcast stations must cease broadcasting analog signals no later than June 12, 2009, but many stations will still end their analog broadcasts on the original conversion date of February 17, 2009, or on other dates before June 12, 2009. A current list of stations that have terminated or will be terminating their analog operations before June 12, 2009, is available at www.fcc.gov (this link will take you to an external website).
Viewers with analog-only televisions using an antenna will require a DTV converter box to receive broadcast TV after June 12, 2009 (or earlier if the local broadcast stations choose to end their analog broadcasts before that date). Viewers who have digital-ready televisions or who receive their television signals via cable should not be affected by the transition.
To assist with this transition the federal government is offering each U.S. household up to two coupon codes, each valid for $40 off the cost of eligible DTV converter boxes. If you need a coupon you can apply for one at www.dtv2009.gov/ApplyCoupon.aspx (this link will take you to an external website). Currently there is a waiting list for DTV coupons that is being processed as older coupons expire.
If you have a code, redeem it via our online form here. You must enter your coupon code via the online form. You cannot enter your coupon code as a promotional code during checkout. Please make sure the converter box you want is available before redeeming your coupon. If you would like to purchase two converter boxes, you will need two coupons and purchase each converter box and redeem each coupon in a separate transaction.

MORE INFO:
If your television is two or more years old or you do not have cable or other pay service, you will need to buy a converter box and hook it to your tv in order to get the digital broadcasting, which will be nearly all stations local and national.
To give some background on this: After the fateful 9/11 terrorist attacks on our country, the airwaves were so blocked by cell phones and other airwave lines that emergency agencies such as police and fire departments couldn't get the calls about the disaster. So Homeland Security put techs to work to find an alternative way of communicating and they found that if they used the analog airwaves, it would be enough to meet the country's emergency needs. The only problem is that all television stations were using the same airwaves to broadcast. It was decided (and was less expensive than converting all cell phones and other lines) to have the tv stations broadcast on digital airwaves. Then they passed a law (in anticipation of the switchover) that all television imported or produced after 2006 HAD to have a digital tuner to pick up the new airwaves broadcasts. If the television is NOT digitally ready, but they are selling it brand new, they MUST post a sign warning the consumer it is NOT digital. _________________ Click Here for your next secret goldbox deal
